- The Game Awards nominations were revealed with six esports categories this year.

- VALORANT is a new entrant for the best esports title this year and is going up against the likes of CS:GO, COD and Fortnite.
The Game Awards nominations were revealed on the official website recently, and there are more esports categories than ever before! The event will be streamed live on YouTube, Twitch, Facebook Live, Trovo and other popular streaming platforms. You can catch it live on December 11th at 12 AM GMT (5:30 AM IST).
There are six categories dedicated to esports, which include:
- Best Esports Athlete
- Best Esports Team
- Best Esports Game
- Best Esports Event
- Best Esports Host
- Best Esports Coach
The Game Awards - Best Esports Athlete
- Crimsix
- Shotzzy
- Canyon
- Showmaker
- ZywOo
Crimsix currently plays for Dallas Empire and won the COD League Championship MVP Award. He is among the best COD players of all time and has been a part of OpTic Gaming. Shotzzy was also a part of Dallas Empire and won the CDL regular-season MVP award. Canyon and Showmaker were part of DWG and won Worlds 2020. ZywOo is Vitality’s AWPer in CS:GO. He has won multiple tournaments throughout his career.

DAMWON Gaming won at the LCK Summer Split playoffs and took the crown at Worlds 2020. Dallas Empire won the inaugural COD League Championship against FaZe (Atlanta) earlier this year along with other high-tier leagues. San Francisco Shock is one of the best teams in the Overwatch League and sealed a victory in the grand finals to become two-time champions. G2 Esports had a fantastic year with wins at LEC Sprint 2020, the Summer Split and a semi-final finish at Worlds. Team Secret from Dota 2 won eight tournaments tournaments in a row including the Omega League: Immortal Division and DreamLeague 2020.

All the names and franchises in the list are regular contended with the big new entrant being VALORANT. Riot Games’ first multiplayer shooter has made waves across the globe with its fluid action and competitive gameplay.

Again, we have no surprises in the nominee’s list. All of the nominated events were successful despite the recent pandemic moving things online. The League World Championship stepped up in terms of production quality and technology this year.

The nominees for the best esports host include Belgian broadcaster Sjokz from League of Legends and Sheever from Dota 2. Goldenboy and Machine have covered multiple games throughout their careers and have been featured in primetime ESPN. Dash is a long-term League of Legends desk analyst who works at Riot Games. This category is a first at The Game Awards.

- Grabbz
Zefa helped DWG win the 2020 League World Championship, and he is currently the head coach for T1. Zonic served his fourth year with Astralis’ CS:GO team and won the ESL Pro League 12. Crusty is the San Francisco Shock coach and has helped the team win two back to back Overwatch League titles. Grabbz is part of the G2 League of Legends team and has achieved success in his three-year term so far. Rambo is the head coach of Dallas Empire, the team that won the COD championships this year and multiple titles in the inaugural season of the COD League.
