B Site To Host Pop Flash VALORANT Invitational
B Site has announced a $50,000 VALORANT invitational tournament which will witness 8 of the best teams from the region fight it out in a two-stage tournament scheduled to take place from 26th - 30th August. The teams invited for the tournament are as follows,
- Team Solo Mid
- T1
- Sentinels
- Cloud9
- Gen.G Esports
- Team Envy
- Immortals
- Dignitas
These are some of the best North American VALORANT teams as witnessed from their performances in previous ‘Ignition Series’ competitions. Team Solo Mid and Sentinels are by far the most successful from among the ones invited, with strong rosters which have proved that players that have experience playing competitive Counter-Strike are also the best when it comes to VALORANT.
Tournament Format
The tournament which is set to take place across a period of five days will be played in two stages. The first stage will witness the eight competing teams being divided into two groups of four teams each, top two teams from each group will move on the playoffs where they will face off against each other in a double-elimination bracket.
It is unclear at this point if all the matches being played will only be following a best-of-three format or not. We might witness a combination of single-game matches and best-of-three series during the group stage, along with a best-of-five grand final. There is no information about the division of the $50,000 prize pool as well.
Tournament Prediction
If one had to go by stats it is most likely that the competition would either be won by Team Solo Mid or Sentinels, as both of them combined have won all the Ignition Series North American VALORANT tournaments. Close behind them are Cloud9 and T1, both of whom possess a really strong lineup but have just fallen short on a few occasions.
If I had to back an underdog it would certainly be the Immortals lineup, they are certainly not as polished as the above-mentioned teams but they have shown great hustle by achieving a respectable 3rd place finish at both FaZe Clan Invitational and T1 x Nerd Street Gamers Showdown.
This by far is looking like the most packed VALORANT tournament yet in North America and winning it would surely be important for the teams invited as it marks the end of the ‘Ignition Series’ events in the region.
