It was initially set to release on 10^th August along with Season 6 of Overwatch 2, but was later postponed and will now be released in September during the mid-season update.

Also, upon release it will only offer courses for a few selected heroes with more getting added to it over time with the addition of new seasons.

Overwatch 2 Hero Mastery Mode: Gameplay Details

It is pretty simple and straightforward to understand how the Hero Mastery Mode in Overwatch 2 works. The developers have basically created hero-specific training courses comprising various objectives to help players figure out how that hero works, different ways in which their abilities can be used, and give them a feel of how to play with the hero during a proper match.

Players would have to complete the course as fast as possible while taking down bots, collecting coins, and accomplishing objectives they encounter along the way. All of this would count towards their Mastery Score for a particular hero, which would in turn give them a solid understanding of their strengths and weaknesses.

All the courses will be repeatable, allowing players to challenge themselves again and again with the goal of further improving their score and becoming even better than before.
