Riot Games revealed that Xbox Game Pass subscribers will receive all agents for free in Valorant as part of its partnership with Microsoft. As long as you have an active Xbox Game Pass subscription, all agents will stay unlocked for free. This offer is applicable to both existing and new Valorant and Game Pass players. If you end your Game Pass subscription, the unlocked agents will no longer be available.
How to purchase Xbox Game Pass and access Valorant
Valorant is not yet available in Game Pass and it is expected to arrive with other Riot Games titles by “winter” 2022.
Search “Xbox” in Windows 10 or 11 and launch the app
If you don’t have the Xbox App installed, you can search for Microsoft Store instead and download the app from there
Launch the Xbox app
There will be an option to subscribe to Game Pass on the homepage
Purchase a subscription. There are special offers for new subscribers and you can join the service for $1 for your first month.
Search for Valorant in the Xbox app
Click on Install
Players will need to link their Riot Games and Xbox accounts to access all of the agents for free. The process for linking both accounts has not yet been revealed. You will also get access to other bonuses in Riot Games’ other titles - League of Legends, Wild Rift, Teamfight Tactics, and Legends of Runeterra.
Riot Games’ Director of Communications Joe Hixon revealed in a tweet, “You’ll still be able to unlock Champions/Little Legends/Cards/Agents in the normal ways while playing with an account linked to Game Pass. Everything earned from gameplay will then stay unlocked after or if you let your subscription lapse. That’s part of the reason for the bonus experience that also comes with a linked account. I’ve seen people comparing it to the Riot Unlocked model that’s used in PC Bangs and that’s very close to what we’re doing here.”
Will I lose access to Valorant agents if I unsubscribe from Game Pass?
If you stop your Xbox Game Pass subscription you will retain all account progression but you will lose access to the agents that were yet to be unlocked. During your playtime, if Game Pass is still active, you will still be able to unlock agents. Any agents that you manually unlock for permanent access will still be available.
