Warzone Payload is the first objective-based mode to be added to Call of Duty: Warzone. Season 4 is off to a good start with the game getting a bunch of new weapons, balance changes, a new season pass and now the Warzone Payload game mode. The new mode is similar to Overwatch’s payload mode where you have to either push an objective or defend it. The new Warzone Payload game mode received a lot of positive feedback and fans are happy with a change of pace from the usual battle royale mode. Unlike Overwatch’s payload mode where a lot of close-range fights take place, Call of Duty’s Payload mode is a bit more spaced out and snipers are doing a lot of heavy lifting in the current meta.
How does Warzone’s Payload mode work
The new Payload mode has teams of 40 fighting against each other to see who can escort the objective to the destination first. Unlike Overwatch or Team Fortress 2, players can setup structures to stop enemies from progressing. While the game mode feels like pure chaos with 40 players on each team, there is actually a lot of strategy involved. You need to have at least one person on the payload and have scouts to ensure that all of your sides are covered. Snipers are extremely potent in this new Warzone game mode and players often try to hide at a distance and pick off players in the enemy team.
Warzone Payload mode tips
Here are some tips that you can take advantage of and maximize your winrate in Warzone Payload mode:
Focus on the objective
While it can be fun to go for kills, you will not be winning matches if you don’t push the payload to the destination. You do not necessarily need to babysit the payload, but if you are not near it, you should be scouting around for enemies and picking them off. You can also look for enemy barriers and take them out to make it easier for your team to push the payload.
Use long-range weapons
Sniper rifles are very potent in the new Warzone Payload mode as they allow you to pick off enemies at a distance without risking yourself. With 40 players in each team, there is a lot of chaos and you can take advantage of the situation and clear out unsuspecting enemies.
Be effective at all ranges
You want to have a loadout that is effective at all ranges. From having a ranged weapon to contest enemy snipers to having a solid primary weapon like an auto rifle or a submachine can help you out a lot.
