In an interesting turn of events, numerous Fortnite players reported that they have automatically been receiving the Psycho Bandit outfit from Borderlands in their accounts. This skin was first launched as part of the Mayhem Set during Season X which went on from August to October 2019 and it hasn’t been seen on the store since 31st May 2020 which adds to the bizarreness of this event.
While not much information is available as to why this is happening, many fans of the game are trying to figure out how to get their hands on the Gaming Legends Series outfit as well, considering its massive popularity and rarity.
Borderlands Psycho Bandit Outfit in Fortnite
On 19th January, numerous Fortnite news outlets reported that players had been randomly getting the Psycho Bandit Borderlands outfit in their inventories. Epic Partner ShiinaBR also mentioned that the possible reason behind this might be that they pre-ordered Borderlands 3 from the Epic Games Store in the past.
Although Fortnite’s dev team hasn’t acknowledged this yet, numerous Borderlands fans are overjoyed to hear that there is a possibility of them receiving this Gaming Legends outfit. While Borderlands 3 was initially released back in September 2019, sites like Fortnite Fandom have mentioned that the skin was also obtainable if players had purchased the game on the Epic Games Store before 31st December 2020.
This means that several gamers had over a year-long window to purchase the game which led to more speculation, stating that Epic is only now carrying out its promise of delivering this skin to people who purchased Borderlands 3 from their store. For those of you who are unaware, the Psycho Bandit was changed from being just a Rare Fortnite skin to a Gaming Legends Series outfit, a rarity given to cosmetics based on well-known video game franchises, making it way more desirable for fans of the critically acclaimed Borderlands series.
Although this news sounds enticing, there seems to be no proper way to get your hands on this outfit, unless you have purchased Borderlands 3 from Epic Games before 31st December 2020. Unfortunately, the skin has not been featured in the in-game store since 31st May 2020, but considering the buzz around this, there is a possibility that the studio might make it available for purchase again, so be on the lookout!
The Psycho Bandit outfit was initially available for 2000 V-Bucks and it was part of the Mayhem Set that also came with other cosmetics like a Claptrap, Psycho Buzz Axes, decals, etc. During the fifth week of Season X, a rift beacon opened up near Truck ‘N’ Oasis which brought a piece of planet Pandora into the Island’s desert, and out from it came the Psycho Bandit along with the Claptrap.
