Overwatch 2 will be available as an early access title on 4th October 2022 and is also going to be free-to-play. The game was previously slated to be a paid title with the player-versus-player (PVP) component being free for owners of Overwatch (2016). If you already own a copy of the first Overwatch game by 23rd June 2022, you will receive a special founder’s pack with exclusive skins. The upcoming Overwatch 2 will be available on PC, Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch.

How to get the Overwatch 2 Founder’s Pack

The Overwatch 2 Founder’s Pack includes two epic skins - General Doomfist and Jester Sombra, along with an exclusive founder’s icon. There will be more rewards available as part of the Founder’s Pack but they are yet to be revealed. If you want to get the skins you will need to purchase Overwatch (2016) from Battle.net, Nintendo eShop, PlayStation Store or Xbox Store by 23rd June 2022.

You do not need to own the first Overwatch game to play Overwatch 2 and you should purchase it only if you want the cosmetics or want to support the developers.

Overwatch 2’s PVE content is not coming in October

Only the PVP component of Overwatch 2 will be available in October and fans will have to wait a little longer to access all of the co-op story content. There is no release date for the PVE (player versus environment) content just yet.

Junker Queen was revealed as the game’s next character. She is the ruler of Junkertown, which is a playable location in Overwatch. We know that Junkrat, Roadhog and Hammond have connections with Junkertown and we will finally get to see its ruler.

All progress will carry over from Overwatch 1 to Overwatch 2 and any cosmetics or golden weapons you have earned will be available in the sequel. All existing Overwatch 1 players will automatically have their copy of the game upgraded to Overwatch 2 once the sequel launches.
