Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 has unique error codes that are related to specific issues that you may be facing. One of the most notorious error codes that have popped up in Season 3 is ‘Clark Monterey’. Players have figured out that the issue is related to cross-play and some players have been able to fix the issue by disabling the feature. But PC players are stuck with the error as there is no way to disable crossplay on the platform. Until Activision issues a fix, only Xbox and Playstation gamers can work around the issue.
Clark Monterey Error in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2: How to fix
Before you disable cross-play, do note that you will not be able to play with your friends who are on other platforms. Try restarting your game or console to see if the issue is fixed before tinkering with your cross-play settings.
How to turn off cross-play on Xbox
Head to your Xbox settings menu
Open the Account settings and click on Privacy and Online Safety
Click on Xbox Live Privacy
Click on View Details > Customise
Click on Communications and Multiplayer
Toggle the "You can play with people outside of Xbox Live" option to disable crossplay.
How to turn off cross-play on PlayStation
If you are a PlayStation user simply press the Options/Start button on your controller and open the Settings menu of Modern Warfare 2. You will see an option to toggle cross-play in the Account and Network section, which will allow you to turn the feature on or off whenever you want. You should also make sure you are on the latest version of the game as a hotfix for the issue is expected to drop very soon.
After disabling cross-play, you may resolve the issue. If you continue facing the Clark Monterey error in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, you need to wait until Activision deploys a patch to address the issue for players affected by it.
