Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is finally getting its Ranked Play mode which will arrive on 15th February. Infinity Ward officially revealed information about how the mode will work for players who want to test their skills against other opponents. The new mode was developed in partnership with Treyarch and the Call of Duty League (CDL) so fans can expect some neck-and-neck competition. Here is a breakdown of the Ranked Play mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Play Breakdown

The standalone competitive Multiplayer mode uses CDL-approved rules, restrictions, maps, and modes, all the while rewarding players with exclusive items and visible skill ranks to show off with pride.

There will be seven tiers ranging from Bronze to Iridescent and also a separate Top 250 leaderboard where players will be featured in-game for others to see. Players can earn Skill Division Skins based on their highest rank for that Season, including a set for finishing a Season in the Gold Division or above for the first time, as well as unique rewards given out each season.

As you fight to increase that Skill Rating (SR), you also climb through a separate set of Ranked Play Ranks (1–50); this does not reset with each season. Everyone starts at Rank 1 and can climb towards Rank 50 by winning matches to earn Stars, with each win equaling one Star earned. Every 5 Ranks the player's Rank icon will update and award a set of exclusive Ranked Play rewards, including Skins at Rank 5 and Rank 50 - along with other rewards.

This is all the information we have for now. Infinity Ward has promised a detailed blog post explaining how exactly the ranked ladder will work and what the rewards structure will be like in each season. With six days to go until the new Ranked Play mode is available in Modern Warfare 2, we can expect more information in the coming days.

In addition to Ranked Play, we are also getting some new maps and the release of the Infected game mode. There will also be a brand-new battle pass, limited-time events, and more to look forward to starting 15th February.
