How to Unlock Agents in Valorant for Free

Unlocking agents in Valorant is quite easy and despite the game being free-to-play, there are no restrictive paywalls that prevent you from unlocking your favorite agents. The grind to unlock agents in Valorant is fairly straightforward and you can get two agents right off the bat after completing the intro mission. There is some thought you will need to put in before unlocking agents in Valorant and we recommend prioritizing the best agents in the game over off-meta characters that are not as good. While Riot Games constantly makes changes to the agents to keep every agent viable, there is no denying that some agents are strictly better than others at the moment. 

How to Unlock Agents in Valorant

You can unlock your first two agents in Valorant very easily by simply completing the introductory ‘contract’. Contracts in Valorant include certain gameplay objectives that you need to complete to get access to the agents. Completing the introductory contract will grant you access to more contracts and agents. 

Here is how you can unlock agents in Valorant: 

1. Go to Collections 
2. Click on Agents 
3. Click the Agent you want to unlock and select View Contract
4. You will get a set of objectives that you need to complete
5. Reach Tier 5 in the contract to unlock the agent

There will be multiple levels in each contract and as you keep grabbing challenges and completing them, you will keep unlocking the agents. You can unlock each agent at Level 5. It is important to focus on the daily challenges as they offer a significant XP boost towards your contract. 

Here is a breakdown of the total XP you need to unlock each agent in Valorant. 

• Tier 1 - 25,000 XP
• Tier 2 - 50,000 XP (25,000 + 25,000)
• Tier 3 - 75,000 XP (50,000 + 25,000)
• Tier 4 - 100,000 XP (75,000 + 25,000)
• Tier 5 - 125,000 XP (100,000 + 25,000)

You do have the option of spending real-world money and unlocking the agents if you choose to. The contract levels for each agent are sold for $2 each and there are five levels that you need to complete, which effectively prices each agent at $10. 

If you want to save time, you can unlock the agents instantly for money but completing their contracts is very time-efficient and it only takes a moderate amount of playtime to unlock the entire roster. When choosing agents, always pick the ones that are in meta and suit your playstyle.
