Team Spirit were deservedly crowned champions of the PGL Arlington Major 2022, having secured a 3-1 victory over PSG.LGD in the Grand Finals of the Arlington Major 2022. Team Spirit came out of the Eastern European region as the strongest team and managed to secure an upper bracket placement for the playoffs. Having dispatched fellow countrymen Outsiders & Chinese underdogs Team Aster, Team Spirit were knocked down to the Lower Bracket Finals by long time rivals, PSG.LGD before facing a rematch against Team Aster and facing PSG.LGD in the Grand Finals of the Major.
Team Spirit managed to get the final laugh however as they dominated the series with a 3-1 victory over the heavy favorites, and lifted the grand prize of the Arlington Major trophy as well as taking home a sum of $200,000 USD and 820 DPC points, which is more than enough to secure them a spot at this year’s TI as defending champions.
After the team lifted up the trophy, Yatoro was interviewed by stage host BanKs regarding his thoughts on the series after being knocked down to the lower bracket 2-0 by PSG.LGD, before facing them in a rematch at the Grand Finals and drafting thoughts on PSG.LGD’s side.
“We just outplayed them. In terms of PSG.LGD drafting Naga Siren in games two and three, I don’t know. They most likely failed to execute the draft.”
Finally, before going off to celebrate the spoils of victory with his teammates Yatoro expresses his gratitude towards the crowd for their unwavering support and gives his final thoughts before heading towards TI11.
“ Thank you, crowd for your support throughout the Major. Your support for us is super good. This series is proof that we can win against anyone.”
Following the conclusion of the Arlington Major, Team Spirit will most likely take time off to celebrate their victory as they will not be participating in ESL One Malaysia 2022 and will be using the time to practice ahead of their journey to Singapore for TI11.
