TNC Predator Will Not Participate in the SEA DPC 2023
While the Southeast Asian (SEA) region is stacked with well-known organizations for 2023, it appears that a former SEA powerhouse, TNC Predator will be taking a hiatus from the upcoming competitive scene. TNC Predator was formerly known as a household name in the Philippines, as the team started to show moments of brilliance starting from The International 2016 (TI6).
However, 2022 proved to be the team’s worst competitive year up to date. TNC’s current roster did not have the same caliber as its former players, which led to its elimination from the Southeast Asian Dota Pro Circuit (SEA DPC) for 2023.
TNC Predator to support the community from the sidelines
In a disheartening announcement video on Facebook, TNC Predator’s CEO & founder Eric Redulfin announced that the organization will skip the upcoming competitive season as it looks to rebuild. He stated that the organization originally had plans to continue for the upcoming season. However, he ultimately decided that it was best for the organization to take a break for the time being.
“This is a very tough and difficult decision. TNC Predator Dota 2 will not participate in the upcoming DPC Season. The organization will take a break from the competitive scene and support the landscape from the sidelines. There were a lot of discussions, negotiations, and moving parts to make this [something] happen. Unfortunately, this plan did not come to life for TNC. We've come a long way, starting from competing in cybercafes, all the way to the biggest Dota 2 streets. From not making through for the most LAN qualifiers to winning WESG, ESL, and Major Championship and gaining glory for our country.”
He also thanked the fans that have supported the team during its worst competitive year up to date, before promising that the team will make a return in the near future.
“This is not the end of our journey. We will continue our TI dream to bring home the Aegis. TNC will rise again!”
TNC Predator made headlines during its golden days in competitive Dota 2, from knocking out OG at TI6 to winning WESG (World Electronic Sports Games) and the MDL Chengdu Major in 2019. However, ever since 2021 the team’s performance has majorly dropped as it was eliminated from the SEA DPC league altogether for the upcoming season.
As of now, TNC will be taking a hiatus from the scene. However, many were hoping that TNC Predator, along with South Korean organization T1, would return to the competitive scene in 2024.
