Tickets for The International 2022 (TI11) sold out today in about 30 minutes, with many eager Dota 2 fans left wanting and being unable to secure them for the first ever TI that is being hosted in the SEA region. Unfortunately, it looks like ticket scalpers did manage to get their hands on a fair few of these TI11 tickets, with some already being illegally sold at double or triple their price on third-party websites.
TI11 tickets are being sold by scalpers after official sale sells out
The International 2022 (TI11) ticket sale went live at 10:00 AM SGT on TicketMaster Singapore’s website. The tickets for the Playoffs stage of the competition were sold at a price of $88 SGD ($64 USD) per day, meaning that the total ticket price for these four days will be a sum of $352 SGD ($255 USD). As for the finals, tickets were priced at $498 SGD ($361 USD) which will give fans access for both days of the event.
Unfortunately, many fans were unable to buy tickets for TI11 as the tickets for the playoffs stage sold out in less than 10 minutes, while the tickets for the finals sold out in less than 30 minutes. It looks like ticket scalpers managed to get their hands on quite a few of these tickets. These scalpers are selling TI11 tickets at exorbitant rates that are up to 6x the original price.
According to Ticketmaster's policies, the resale of TI11 ticket(s) at the same or any price in excess of the initial purchase price is prohibited. So this is essentially illegal in the eyes of Ticketmaster. Unfortunately, that has not prevented fans from seeking out scalpers to purchase these tickets
A similar situation played out at The International 2019 (TI9) held in Shanghai, China. Where 26,804 tickets sold out in around 50 seconds even after sales were delayed for an hour, following which they were sold for 5x or 6x their original prices by scalpers.
The International 2022 (TI11) will take place October 20-30 in the Suntec Convention Center and the Singapore Indoor Stadium. 12 teams have already secured direct invites to the event.
