In a stunning turn of events at the Lima Dota 2 Major 2023, Chinese powerhouse PSG.LGD has been eliminated after losing 2-1 against Team Spirit in a tense and back-and-forth BO3 match on the second day of the tournament. The match was the final one of the day, and showcased Team Spirit’s immense team-fight execution and map movements heading into the closing stages of the tournament.

The Lima Major Dota 2 tournament has a total prize pool of $500,000 USD and 1,900 DPC points up for grabs. With PSG.LGD being one of the top Chinese teams in the tournament, its elimination leaves Team Aster as the only representative from China that remains at the Lima Major 2023, following the latter’s 2-1 victory over Tundra earlier today.

Lima Major 2023: PSG.LGD Knocked Out of Dota 2 Tournament After Intense Battle Against Team Spirit

The first match of the BO3 series was won convincingly by Team Spirit, who initially had several lanes go wrong in the laning phase, but turned it around with a well-executed teamfight near its outpost to turn the game and snowball to a strong 1-0 lead. However, PSG.LGD was quick to respond in the second match, with a strong performance from Cheng "NothingToSay" Jin Xiang’s Ember Spirit leading it to even out the series.

The final match was a nail-biting affair, with both teams opting to pick very similar lineups to their previous drafts. However, this time it was Team Spirit who came out on top, winning the match and securing their spot in the next round of the tournament.

Team Spirit will now face the winner of the Talon Esports vs HellRaisers match in the next round, while PSG.LGD will be going back home after their elimination. Despite their loss, PSG.LGD can hold their heads high, considering the fact that the team had multiple players making their debuts at a LAN event this Major. Despite the relative inexperience, the Chinese pros put up a strong fight and played some excellent Dota 2 throughout the tournament.

With several other top teams still in the running, the Lima Major Dota 2 tournament continues to be an exciting and unpredictable event as we head into the third day of the playoffs, with fans eagerly waiting to see who will come out on top when it all comes to a close.
