Talon Esports has secured a top 3 finish in the Lima Major 2022 with a scintillating 2-1 victory over North American powerhouse Shopify Rebellion in the lower bracket semifinals. With that victory, Talon Esports became the first Southeast Asian Dota 2 team to secure a Top 3 finish at a Dota 2 Pro Circuit (DPC) since T1 at the WePlay! AniMajor 2021.
Talon Esports will move on to the Lower Bracket finals where it will now face Team Liquid in a BO3 series to determine the team that will compete against Gaimin Gladiators in the Grand Finals of the Lima Major 2022.
Talon Esports secure an impressive 2-1 victory over Shopify Rebellion to secure Top 3
Talon Esports came into the match against Shopify Rebellion with plenty of momentum behind its backs following a quick 2-0 decimation of Entity in the first match of the day. The Southeast Asian team powered through the first game with the same momentum.
Rafli "Mikoto" Rahman got his hands on his signature Puck and went on to showcase why this hero is almost always permanently banned against him. He terrorized the map, killing Shopify’s heroes over and over again, making space for Nuengnara "23savage" Teeramahanon who racked in the farm and secured the victory for Talon Esports in his first game.
The second game saw Shopify strike back with a dominant showing. Anucha "Jabz" Jirawong’s Dawnbreaker suffered heavily against Artour “Arteezy” Babaev’s Bloodseeker who snowballed off him and helped his team secure a series-leveling Game 2 victory.
But Jabz redeemed himself in the final game as he returned the favor to Arteezy’s Luna with his Primal Beast. Even with a lineup that was geared to the ultra-late game, Talon Esports won all of its lanes against Shopify’s heroes and managed to get the snowball rolling. Despite Shopify’s best efforts they simply couldn’t put a dent in Talon Esports’ cores, especially 23savage’s overfarmed Spectre who dealt over 80k damage in a 45-minute game.
Shopify Rebellion walks out of the tournament in 4th place with a respectable $50k USD in prize winnings and perhaps more importantly 250 DPC points. Arteezy and North America’s woes with DPC tournaments continue with no end to it in sight.
