T1 has parted ways with its carry Gabbi and mid Karl.
T1 will be competing in TI11 SEA Qualifiers and will need to find replacements for the two players before it.

T1 has parted ways with its carry Kim "Gabbi" Villafuerte and midlaner Karl "Karl" Baldovino, the organization announced earlier today. The two will now have the chance to find new teams to compete with before the International 2022 (TI11) Regional Qualifiers.

Gabbi had joined T1 earlier in February, replacing star carry Nuengnara "23savage" Teeramahanon while Karl "Karl" Baldovino has been part of the lineup since October 2020. Unfortunately, the team has underwhelmed in recent tournaments, failing to qualify for the Arlington Major and secure a direct invite to TI11. With qualification for TI11 on the line, it seems like T1 is making some drastic changes to attempt to reinvigorate its lineup before the SEA qualifiers kicks off.

Currently, it’s unclear what the two Dota 2 players’ plans are ahead of TI11’s qualifiers.

Gabbi and Karl are no longer part of T1

In its announcement detailing the departure of Gabbi and Karl, T1 thanked the two players for their efforts in the last two months.

“All good things come to an end,” read T1’s announcement. “Today we announce the departure of 'Karl' and 'Gabbi' from our DOTA2 roster. Thank you for everything you've done and we wish them all the best for their future!”

Following the two departures, T1's current Dota 2 lineup is:

  • Carlo "Kuku" Palad

  • Kenny "Xepher" Deo

  • Matthew "Whitemon" Filemon

With players like Topias "Topson" Taavitsainen, Anathan "ana" Pham, and Ryan "Raging Potato" Qui available in the market, T1’s roster could still be bolstered over the next few weeks. T1 will next be competing in the TI11’s Regional Qualifiers which kicks off on 3rd September.

A first place finish in the qualifiers will see them directly qualify for TI11 while a second or third place finish would book them a place in the Last Chance Qualifiers for the tournament.
