Chinese superstars Lu "Somnus" Yao, Yang "Chalice" Shenyi, and Xu "fy" Linsen could be joining forces to form a new team. The trio has previously played together under the LGD Gaming organization, where they had significant success, including a runner-up finish at The International 2018 and a third-place finish at The International 2019.
According to @Tr1H4rd3rDota2 who is familiar with Chinese Dota 2, the trio will be looking to compete in Tour 3 of the Chinese Dota 2 Pro Circuit. Somnus has also stated that they are willing to play without a salary for the next DPC season, and they have their sights set on acquiring a team slot in the league. With these three talented players potentially joining forces, it will be interesting to see how they fare in the highly competitive world of professional Dota 2.
Somnus on joining Xtreme Gaming and Team Aster
Former PSG.LGD mid-laner Somnus confirmed that the owner of Xtreme Gaming asked him if he would like to join the team, however, he declined. He also said Aster gave him the same offer, but he declined saying that he has not played in the competitive Dota 2 scene for a long time and did not want to ruin the chemistry of an already established team.
Somnus, Chalice, and fy were casting the Berlin Major 2023 when the former commented that he wanted to compete professionally once again as he believed the new patch fit his aggressive playstyle, and said he would play without any salary.
A Reunion of Former PSG.LGD Players
Fy, Somnus, and Chalice last played together on the PSG.LGD roster that finished 2nd at TI8 and 3rd at TI9. Currently, Somnus and Chalice were on the active roster of Royal Never Give Up, however, the team has been out of the professional Dota 2 scene after the conclusion of The International 11, while fy is playing with Vici Gaming.
Chalice was allegedly seen telling his streamer friend that Somnus actually found a team and they would be competing without any salary for the next DPC Tour. Initially, Chalice thought Somnus was joking, but things seem to be coming together.
The possible reunion of Somnus, Chalice, and fy on a new Dota 2 team has fans excited about the potential of this powerhouse lineup. With Somnus’ leadership and aggressive playstyle, Chalice's solid off-lane play, and fy's support prowess, this team could potentially make waves in the upcoming DPC Tour. The possibility of acquiring a DPC slot adds to the excitement, and fans eagerly await any official news regarding these rumors. While these changes may be exciting for fans, it is important to remember that these are just rumors as of now and we will have to wait for official announcements in order to confirm the reunion of these players.
