After winning its series 2-1 over Nigma Galaxy, Lima Major Champions Gamin Gladiators (GG) are tied for second place with Tundra Esports in the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) Western Europe (WEU) 2023 Tour 2: Division I standings. With the WEU region being hailed as the most competitive region in the Dota 2 world, there are several debates on which team could be named the best. In the post-match interview after GG’s win over Nigma Galaxy, midlaner Quinn “Quinn” Callahan shared his opinions on which team he believes is the best in the region currently.
Gamin Gladiators will be playing against Tundra Esports in the near future, where the winner will take the second spot in the DPC WEU 2023 Tour 2: Division I standings and secure 240 DPC points. The team will also be competing at the upcoming DreamLeague Season 19 and Berlin Major 2023 scheduled to take place between April 9th to 23rd and April 26th to May 7th respectively.
Quinn thinks either Gamin Gladiators or Team Liquid is the best in Europe, says Tundra is ‘Volatile’
After a close 2-1 victory over Nigma Galaxy, Quinn was present from GG for the post-match interview, where he had some interesting views on which team can be named the best team in EU.
“I think it's hard to say anyone in Europe is objectively the best. I think probably us (referring to Gamin Gladiators) or Liquid right now. Tundra is a little volatile right now. There was a period where they didn't have an identity so much and they were trying to figure things out,” said Quinn.
Quinn was referring to Tundra’s performance after TI, as Tundra Esports remained a formidable team, consistently ranking among the best in the world, but their dominance was no longer as noticeable and other teams could now compete with them on a more even playing field. “I think they were a lot better in the series we played against them. So for Tundra, I think it just depends if they have their meta going. If they have their heroes and their meta, then I think that team is very very strong,” he said.
Quinn also believes that GG and Team Liquid are the two best teams in EU right now and first or second-place rankings are not very indicative of the best team. “I think right now it's us (GG) and Liquid, and who’s number one or two (DPC Standings) depends on the day,” said Quinn.
He also provided his opinion on who he believes would take the last slot for the Berlin Major 2023, naming Ooredoo Thunders as the most likely candidate if they continue playing as they are. “I think if everybody continues playing the level they have been playing then Ooredoo (Thunders) is the best,” he said.
After winning the Lima Major 2023, Gamin Gladiators continue to have a good run in the DPC WEU 2023 Tour 2: Division I, with a potential second-place finish over Tundra Esports and tailing right behind Team Liquid in the standings. With a slot secured for the Berlin Major 2023, GG is on the right track to secure an invitation for The International 2023.
