Qojqva Compares Salary of Dota 2, CS:GO, and League of Legends Pros
The Dota 2 community always wonders about the estimated salary of professional esports athletes, as winning a single The International (TI) would pretty much convert a player into a millionaire within days. However, former Alliance and Team Liquid mid laner Maximilian "qojqva" Bröcker explained that professional Dota 2 players earned less money than esports athletes from different games such as League of Legends and CS:GO.
Qojqva also mentioned that CS:GO pro players have a higher salary than Dota 2 pro players despite earning less at major tournaments.
Qojqva noted that Dota 2 pro players earn less than League of Legends players.
During his Twitch livestream yesterday, while watching the match between Team Liquid and goonsquad, Maximilian "qojqva" Bröcker responded to a viewer’s question of whether he knew the base salary of tier one players in the Dota 2 competitive scene.
“Do I know how much is the salary of Tier One Dota 2 players? Yes. I actually know from a lot of different teams, however I’m not going to elaborate further.” said qojqva when asked about the base salary of tier one players.
The German mid laner then further added that professional players within the CS:GO competitive scene earn more money in terms of salary, despite receiving less at major tournaments. “Give ranges? I am pretty sure that CS:GO was higher, as the base salary of a Dota 2 professional player is a bit lower than CS:GO. I mean, CS:GO players earn less at tournaments yet they receive a higher salary because Dota 2 players have The International (TI).”
Qojqva then asked his viewers about the base salary of a League of Legends pro player, to which they responded about an estimated $20,000 per month. Qojqva then stated that most Dota 2 teams earn less than League of Legends pro players.
“How much is League, like per month? [salary]. 20K a month? Most Dota 2 teams earned less than that. There are very few teams that earn more, very very few but most teams earn less than 20K a month.” said qojqva.
Despite a huge difference in prize pool in terms of major tournaments such as The International, tier one Dota 2 players tend to worry about financial stability if the team is not successful at major tournaments.
