The Last Chance Qualifiers (LCQ) have finally concluded, as Team Secret & Team Liquid will be the final two to earn qualification to The International 2022 (TI11) from the Upper and Lower Bracket respectively. Following the conclusion of Lower Bracket Finals, Clement "Puppey" Ivanov was interviewed by the LCQ panel after Lasse "MATUMBAMAN" Urpalainen finished his winner’s interview.

The captain of Team Secret proceeded to talk about the team’s match against Virtus.pro in the Upper Bracket Finals, amongst other topics such as his perfect TI attendance and more.

“Even if you qualify and win the third Major, you’re not even going to TI” - Puppey gave his opinion on DPC and more

The interview started off with panel host Natalie "NatTea" Mahoney asking Puppey about the team’s decision to end Game Two with a push onto Virtus.pro’s Ancient despite buybacks from their opponent.

Puppey replied by saying that “Yeah, for sure. They didn’t have Undying buyback, which is enough for us to play like a bunch of assholes. Plus the DD [Double Damage rune] gave a lot of help. Once you see a DD and behind in the game, with Aegis, DD, no Undying buyback and you get a chance to pose the fight yourself, it seems too good to be true so we just went for it.”

Maurice "KheZu" Gutmann then proceeded to ask his former captain about the team’s performance during the Dota Pro Circuit [DPC] season, as the team had roster issues as well as a dip in performance before Riyadh Masters 2022, where the team managed to improve going into the Regional Qualifiers.

“Oh, I hated this season. I was practically kind of losing my mind during the first season because as you all saw, we did not do good this season. But I’ve felt like certain people aren’t stressed enough because there’s a lot of time during the season but I don’t think there is time. You only have like two chances, like even if you qualify and win the third Major, you’re not even going to TI. As Entity, they would have done that [during the Arlington Major] but it’s a bugged and stressful system.” said Puppey when talking about the DPC system.

With Puppey qualified to his 11th TI in a row, Clinton "Fear" Loomis then asked Puppey about the difference between his qualification to every other TI and qualifying from the Last Chance Qualifiers.

Puppey responded by saying that “Well to be fair, it’s pretty obvious in my books that I went into a different path in order to qualify for this International. I think I have been through every single path to get qualified. I’ve been invited, I’ve gone through open qualifiers [with Secret in 2016], regular qualifiers without open qualifiers and now this newest of paths to get to TI. It’s the last path that I have never taken before to qualify for TI and I instantly did it on my first try. But I think the path to get this far is more important than actually getting to TI itself.”

With Team Secret slowly regaining its form going into the group stages of TI11, will we see the 11-time TI attendee lift his second Aegis of Champions with Team Secret?
