PSG.LGD has continued to dominate the Chinese region extending its form and managing to secure the top spot in the China Dota 2 Pro Circuit (DPC) 2021/22 Tour 2 with a 6-1 win-loss record. As a result, PSG.LGD have secured a spot in the upcoming ESL One Stockholm 2022 Major. Despite this, the team is in danger of missing out on the major due to problems with securing Visas for the team amidst the ongoing lockdowns in China.

PSG.LGD cannot apply for Visas to travel to the Stockholm Major 2022

On Thursday, PSG.LGD announced that it is temporarily unable to apply for visas for the ESL One Stockholm 2022 Major because its players are under isolation and quarantined at home. The organization has informed the tournament organizers about the current situation and is in communication with them to see if there is a solution that will allow them to participate at the event.

Earlier in April, former Mars Media director Dimitri “GodBlessMali” Vallette had expressed concerns about the ability of Chinese teams to attend the major. “If I were a player competing at the event, I wouldn’t attend,” he stated, when he was questioned about the odds of Chinese teams making it to the Major.

He pointed out that Chinese teams and players would not be able to make their way back into the country for “several weeks/months” owing to the severe lockdown restrictions imposed in Shanghai currently. This lockdown has reportedly led to “starving people and the emergence of a barter economy among residents.” Shanghai residents are also reportedly screaming from their windows to protest lack of supplies.

Considering this situation, teams and players would be reluctant to travel outside China and risk being unable to make it back to the country.

The ESL One Stockholm 2022 Major will take place from May 12 and will feature a $500K Prize Pool. 18 teams are currently scheduled to compete in this event. However, with teams and players facing Visa issues, we could see fewer teams actually make it to the LAN event.
