Polaris Esports Announced the Release of Its Dota 2 Roster

The roster shuffle season continues its momentum in the Southeast Asian (SEA) region as Polaris Esports announced it has released its entire Dota 2 roster. The Filipino organization had recently won the Asia Pacific Predator League 2022. However, it seems like the roster will be ending its journey with the organization on a high note.

Polaris Esports performed remarkably well during the first half of the season, as it barely missed out on qualifying for the Stockholm Major. However a slump in performance during the second half of the season saw the organization being relegated back into the second division of the SEA Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) for next year.

It's not a secret that Polaris Esports is still a relatively young and small organization and as such we cannot go toe to toe with the financial capabilities of other, much larger, and established organizations.” announced  Polaris Esports on its Facebook page.

The announcement was released earlier today (15th Nov), following the team’s championship victory at the Asia Pacific Predator League 2022. While it was expected that the team would stick together for the upcoming season, the organization decided to release its entire Dota 2 roster after the tournament. The organization revealed that the players had received offers for its players from different teams, stating that it could not match the offers and wanted to respect the players’ decision to explore other opportunities.

While the organization is relatively new to the Dota 2 professional scene, its players were veterans of the scene as the organization picked up the former Adroit Esports roster in late 2021. The team performed well at the start of the season, managing to earn promotion into Division I of the SEA DPC and narrowly earned a direct invitation to the Stockholm Major.

However, the team was relegated back to the second division for the 2022/2023 season after placing last in the third tour of the SEA DPC. In an attempt to qualify for The International 2022 (TI11), the organization recruited Nikko "Force" Bilocura & Nico "eyyou" Barcelon for the SEA Regional Qualifiers. The team barely missed out on a direct invitation to TI11 at the hands of Talon Esports, who defeated it in a full best-of-five series. While Polaris Esports did qualify for the Last Chance Qualifiers, it saw an early elimination at the hands of North American team Wildcard Gaming. 

Following the announcement, the organization is looking to fully rebuild for the upcoming season.
