During his time at the Dubai Esports Festival, Nigma Galaxy’s Maroun "GH" Merhej posted an update on the roster’s future as well as addressing the rumors surrounding the team for the upcoming season. Nigma Galaxy has had a rough year, as the team saw itself being relegated into the second division of the Western Europe (WEU) DPC (Dota Pro Circuit) halfway through the season.
While the team did manage to promote themselves back into Division I for the 2022/2023 DPC season, the team was unable to qualify for The International 2022 (TI11) after a heartbreaking loss against Team Secret in the WEU Regional Qualifiers.
“We will have our place back on top soon enough.” - GH addresses the rumor surrounding the team’s roster for 2023
Nigma Galaxy’s Maroun "GH" Merhej recently posted an update surrounding the team’s roster for the 2022/2023 DPC season on the organization’s Twitter page. The Lebanese support started off the video by addressing the rumors about the team’s roster.
He stated that despite the rumors that have been going around online, he said that “the team has it all together” before saying that the team are currently finalizing details behind the scenes before going on to thank the fans for their support throughout the rough year.
He then ended the video by saying that the team will come back stronger and that “we will have our place back on top soon enough.”
One of the rumors in question came from Entity’s Dzmitry "Fishman" Palishchuk in a podcast back in late September, saying that Nigma’s Kuro "KuroKy" Takhasomi might leave the team, while Amer "Miracle-" Al-Barkawi will take a break from competitive Dota however was unable to confirm the allegations. Additionally, there was an additional rumor saying that Yaziet "YapzoR" Jaradat and Ammar "ATF" Alassaf will replace the rumored players however it was unconfirmed at the time.
However, based on the recent announcement it seems that the rumors are mostly false. Also, a fan at the Dubai Esports Festival was able to ask GH questions regarding the roster for 2023, in which the latter said that most of the players will be sticking around for next season. Additionally, co-founder Mohamed “almany-” Morad stated that KuroKy will not be taking a break by quoting the announcement on Twitter, as opposed to previous rumors.
However, despite the recent update from Nigma Galaxy it is yet unclear whether the team will undergo roster changes for the upcoming season.
