LaNm, Ori, & Fade Call Out Team Aster For Non-Payment of Their Dues
Team Aster has been accused by former Team Aster midlaner Zeng "Ori" Jiaoyang, former coach and player Zhang "LaNm" Zhicheng, and former player of the team, Pan "Fade" Yi (aka Frisk) of not paying its pending dues to its former players as well as staff members.
During the past couple of years, Team Aster has seen success on the international stage, from finishing third place at the Arlington to finishing in the top 4 at The International 2022 (TI11), causing its popularity to surge amongst Dota 2 fans. However, the newly raised allegations by its former players might affect the team’s publicity moving forward.
Ori, Frisk & LaNm called out Team Aster for unsettled payments
Former Team Aster midlaner Zeng "Ori" Jiaoyang had called out his former team on his Weibo page for not paying his full salary as well as prize winnings during his time at Aster. Ori had previously announced during the off-season that he will be retiring from the competitive scene.
While the allegations by the former Aster midlaner had the community confused at first, other Dota 2 personalities who had previously worked for Team Aster came out to support Ori’s allegations. A couple of minutes later after Ori called out his former team, former coach and player Zhang "LaNm" Zhicheng reposted Ori’s post while also calling out the organization for overdue bills.
Another former player of the team, Pan "Fade" Yi commented on Ori’s post on Weibo. Fade was previously a part of the Team Aster roster back in 2020, however he also called out his former organization for not paying his prize winning as he has yet to receive it for almost three years.
Team Aster is yet to comment on the allegations at the time of writing. Popular Chinese player Xu "BurNIng" Zhilei is a co-owner of the team. The organization has continued to see success and finished 2nd in the recently concluded Dota 2 Pro Circuit China 2023 Tour 1: Division I. They will be seen competing in the upcoming Lima Major 2023.
