Team Liquid is practicing for the upcoming ESL One Malaysia 2022 and The International 2022 (TI11) Regional Qualifiers as it could not directly qualify after failing to secure the required Dota Pro Circuit( DPC) points for a direct invite. As the team was preparing to travel to Malaysia, Team Liquid’s captain, Aydin "iNSaNiA" Sarkohi tweeted that his passport was stolen and personal belongings were stolen during his stay in the US and he was stuck in the country. Fortunately, iNSaNiA managed to acquire a new passport in time after getting aid from the embassy. iNSaNiA is expected to arrive in time for the group stages of ESL One Malaysia 2022.
iNSaNiA's passport was stolen, but a new one was acquired
After a disappointing Arlington Major exit in which Team Liquid got eliminated by Boom Esports, it was presumed that Team Liquid would have an extended stay in the US for a short period of time as the team’s US facilities in California were available for use to help the team practice for the upcoming ESL One Malaysia 2022 and TI11 Regional Qualifiers.
However, as the team prepared to begin its trip to Malaysia, Team Liquid’s support and captain Aydin "iNSaNiA" Sarkohi posted on Twitter that his passport and his personal belongings were stolen during his stay in the US as his car was broken into. iNSaNiA also added that he was working with the Swedish embassy in the US in hopes of acquiring a new passport in time to travel to Malaysia. He stated that it may not be possible for him to travel as the process could take some time and apologized to the fans waiting to meet him at ESL One Malaysia 2022.
However, iNSaNiA tweeted a couple of hours later that he will be able to make it with his team to Malaysia as he managed to secure his passport. He said he would elaborate further on his passport situation either during an interview at ESL One Malaysia 2022 or during a stream after the tournament.
Following the good news, iNSaNiA is still expected to join his teammates in time for the group stages of ESL One Malaysia 2022, as the team will be facing its European rivals OG in Group B on 23rd August, followed by Nigma Galaxy, Fnatic, Boom Esports and TSM.
