TI12 - The Rise and Bali Major 2023 Drama

The path to TI12 involved several challenges for gpk and his squad. Putting together a formidable team, they faced pressure but resolved to support and work with each other. Unfortunately, they encountered visa issues and had to replace Pure for one of the Majors (ESL One Berlin Major 2023).

Despite these setbacks, their performance at Dreamleague Season 20 filled them with confidence, stating that the team did not get many chances to play in the grand finals, especially against a team like Gaimin Gladiators, which was on its way to winning every tournament before Dreamleague S20.

However, the Bali Major 2023 took a tragic turn when Pure's actions disqualified him and severely impacted the team's morale and position in the tournament. He mentioned that he “just wanted to cry” and he had “never felt such a thing in 6 years of playing Dota 2”. He also mentioned that it became hard for him to concentrate when you go through such an emotional rollercoaster. Despite the adversity, gpk and his teammates remained committed to each other and vowed to work towards success, even stating that he did not hold a grudge or any ill feelings towards Pure for the incident.

Gpk's open letter provides a glimpse into the emotional rollercoaster that professional players endure on their journey to TI events. His reflections on TI10, TI11, and TI12 highlight the challenges faced and the importance of team cohesion. The drama surrounding Pure at the Bali Major 2023 served as a stark reminder of the pressures and uncertainties faced by Dota 2 pros. As the Riyadh Masters 2023 and TI12 approach, gpk and the rest of his team will be more motivated than ever to work towards winning the championships, and the massive prize pools that come with them.
