Vici Gaming will be returning to Division I of the China Dota Pro Circuit (CN DPC) ahead of the Spring Tour. Previously seen as a constant contender for international glory, Vici Gaming saw its worst competitive season up to date as the organization was relegated to the second division of the CN DPC for the first tour of the 2023 season.
However, the team will be a part of the rather packed Division I in the upcoming Spring Tour alongside the likes of PSG.LGD, Team Aster, and EHOME to name a few.
Fy leads Vici Gaming back to the top
Following The International 2021 (TI10), Vici Gaming underwent a full rebuild as it recruited four up-and-coming players while also retaining carry player Yang “Erika” Shaohan. However, its abysmal performances throughout the 2021/2022 CN DPC season saw the team get relegated to Division II at the start of the 2023 DPC season.
Despite the team almost qualifying for The International 2022 (TI11), via the Last Chance Qualifiers, the organization knew it needed to rebuild if it wished to return to its glory days. During the off-season, the Chinese organization decided to recruit former RNG midlaner Gao "Setsu" Zhenxiong while also bringing back a former Vici Gaming legend in Xu "fy" Linsen.
Fy spent the majority of the last season with Invictus Gaming, as he helped the team return to Division I of the CN DPC for the first tour of the 2023 season. However, he opted to return to his former home and help the team return to its former glory.
Vici Gaming dominated Division II from the get-go as the team won five series in a row before losing to the team at the top of the standings, Ybb Gaming. However, the team was able to secure promotion back into Division I ahead of the Spring Tour as it finished second in the regional league.
With the return of Vici Gaming to the top tier of Chinese Dota, many are expecting the upcoming Spring Tour of the CN DPC to be a bloodbath as Division I is packed with well-established organizations such as Team Aster, PSG.LGD and EHOME, to name a few.
