The Play-Ins of the Riyadh Masters 2023 have concluded, and it saw 4 teams eliminated from the event, including Entity Esports.
The team’s captain, Dmitry "Fishman" Polishchuk recently posted on his telegram channel where he spoke about the experience at the event and looking forward to The International 12.
He highlights the lack of discipline in the team, and how the “cybertourism” part of his journey starts now, after his elimination from the event.

The journey for Entity at the Riyadh Masters 2023 has come to an end as they failed to secure a Top 2 placement in their group during the Play-Ins, followed by a decisive 2-0 loss against OG in the deciders.

As reported by dota2.net, the team's captain, Dmitry "Fishman" Polishchuk, took to his personal Telegram channel to share his thoughts on their departure from the championship in Saudi Arabia.

Fishman's Reflection on the Tournament

According to the post, Fishman acknowledged that despite the team's efforts, they fell short of expectations at the Riyadh Masters. He praised the team's improvement, stating they performed better compared to their previous roster. However, he pointed out that they lacked the discipline and focus in a few important series. He talks about the high energy and excitement among the players which seemed to have affected their gameplay, resulting in some missed opportunities.

Here I am in the room after the pocket at Riyadh Masters 2023. Didn't pass. We played, in principle, better than in the previous roster. *** somewhere in the two or three games that we could not lose. Previously, the Entity team had a quality called discipline. We have never lost a match that we cannot lose. At this tournament, we lost at least two matches, which we couldn’t lose, because we didn’t have enough discipline, we didn’t have enough voice, because everyone is in hype, everyone is so excited, excited, shouting: “Go, go, go.” Because of this, there was not enough focus in some matches.

Facing OG's Dominance

Fishman expressed his frustration at being matched against OG, a team that has consistently proven to be a bad matchup for them. While teams like Tundra Esports and Team Liquid appeared stronger on paper, it was OG who managed to consistently beat Entity. Despite admitting that OG deserved the victory, Fishman emphasized their need to improve their performance against formidable opponents like OG.

Appreciating the Journey

Amidst the disappointment of being eliminated, Fishman expressed gratitude for the opportunity to compete at the tournament. He reflected on his journey, noting that a year and a half ago, his goal was to participate in at least one LAN event. Now, he has already attended multiple LANs, and while expectations are high, he reminded his team to appreciate the achievement of being among the best teams at the tournament.

Looking Ahead to The International

With their departure from Riyadh Masters 2023, Fishman now sets his sights on the upcoming TI qualifiers. He emphasized the importance of discipline and hard work in securing a spot in The International. While he regrets not being able to fight for the championship in Riyadh, he remains optimistic about future opportunities to compete at similar prestigious events.

Fishman also shared some light-hearted moments amidst the disappointment, mentioning the perks of the luxurious five-star hotel and the joys of "cybertourism" in Riyadh. Although he won't be able to enjoy the tournament as a player, he intends to make the most of his time at the event.

Well, nothing, looking forward to qualifying for TI. It's a pity that I won't be able to fight for the championship at Riyadh Masters 2023, but I hope that this is not the last such championship and that in the future I will have the opportunity to compete at Riyadh. The funny thing is that I'm only going home in ten days: the cybertourism part of my journey begins. The food here is cool, I have a bed with the softest pillows, a big TV. This is a five-star hotel: there is a swimming pool, a sauna on the street, it’s generally very cool here. So I will try to enjoy. But, of course, I would like to enjoy this place as a player. It's sad to lose. It doesn’t matter what place you take: third, fourth, fifth, sixth, twentieth, the feeling is the same, it’s very unpleasant to lose, to fly out of the tournament. Well, it's okay, we'll win next. Need to work better. It's a sport - the strongest wins. The fact that we did not have enough discipline there is not important, it is important who the throne falls. Next wine.
Dmitry "Fishman" Polishchuk

Entity may have been eliminated from the Riyadh Masters 2023, but the team’s captain, Fishman, remains determined to bounce back stronger. The tournament has seemingly been a valuable learning experience for the team, and they will now set their sights on securing a spot in The International through the upcoming qualifiers.
