Following its 2-0 victory against Gaimin Gladiators, Evil Geniuses has become the first team secure an upper bracket spot at The International 2022 (TI11)
Despite the team’s inconsistency during the Dota Pro Circuit season, EG seems like it has found its form in time for the biggest tournament of the year.

Evil Geniuses (EG) has mathematically secured an Upper Bracket spot after defeating Gaimin Gladiators 2-0 in its second match of the day. The North American team had an average Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) season, securing top three finishes regionally but unable to perform at LAN events. However, despite all of the skepticism regarding the team’s form, EG became the first team in the tournament to secure a spot in the Upper Bracket.

Evil Geniuses had an amazing run in Group A, with a 12-2 win-loss ratio thanks to defeating all of its opponents 2-0 apart from Team Liquid, who managed to hand it a 0-2 loss in the group stage.

EG to secure first UB slot in Group A

Many did not see Evil Geniuses as a contender for this year’s International, as the team struggled to perform at LAN events despite having a good regional performance during the DPC season. However, EG doubters might want to rethink their decision as Evil Geniuses became the first team to secure an Upper Bracket slot in Group A.

While the team did have an average performance throughout the season, it seems like the team has finally found its form at TI11 as the team were on the roll, after making a roster change that saw the departure of Jesse “JerAx” Vainikka and saw the return of captain Tal “Fly” Aizik to the team.

Despite a 0-2 defeat to Team Liquid yesterday, Evil Geniuses had an amazing run in the group stage as the team defeated big name organizations such as PSG.LGD & OG 2-0 convincingly to have a 12-2 win loss ratio at the moment. Following its recent victory over Gaimin Gladiators, EG have mathematically secured a spot in the Upper Bracket of the TI11 Main Event however the team still have a few matches to go before it could find out its final standing in Group A.

With one Upper Bracket spot being secured by EG, many teams will look to fight over the remaining three spots in Group A.
