  • OG has signed TI winner Syed Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan to complete their roster for the upcoming ESLOne Summer 2021 and TI10 EU Qualifiers.
  • With this announcement and following Ana’s retirement, SumaiL begins a new journey with OG and will make his renewed appearance with OG on 16 June 2021, at the ESL One Summer 2021

In a totally unexpected (not really) move, OG has signed TI winner Syed Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan to complete their roster for the upcoming ESLOne Summer 2021 and TI10 EU Qualifiers. This move comes not even a day after the announcement of ex-OG player Anathan “ana” Pham’s announcement to retire from OG and competitive Dota 2 as a whole. OG brought back Ana in the second season of the 2021 DPC but despite a good showing, in the beginning, their momentum fell off and the team even failed to qualify for the WePlay Animajor. It will be interesting to see how OG performs with SumaiL this time around. You can catch OG with their new player at the ESL One Summer 2021.

SumaiL Joins OG For The Second Time

SumaiL has been hailed the ‘king’ of the midlane for multiple years now and truly so. His first appearance as a professional Dota 2 player was with the 2015 EG roster at the Dota 2 Asian Championships. The team went on to win TI5 in 2015 and SumaiL has since, been the youngest player to secure a TI win.

SumaiL played in the EG roster for five whole years until his departure from the team in 2020. He tried his hand in one of NA’s up-and-coming teams, Quincy Crew but that journey didn’t last very long. He was then signed by OG to play the carry role but after they qualified for ESL One LA 2020. The event itself was canceled due to the pandemic following which Sumail played in multiple online tournaments before he was replaced by Sébastien "Ceb" Debs.

SumaiL, since then remained inactive until his most recent entry into a team. Team Liquid signed him as a stand-in for the second season of the 2021 EU DPC where he exceeded expectations and finished second with Team Liquid. However, he was then released from the stand-in position with the return of Team Liquid’s player who had taken a break.

With this announcement and following Ana’s retirement, SumaiL begins a new journey with OG. It is most likely that he will again play in the carry role instead of mid, judging by his recent pub games and the fact that OG already has a strict mid player. It will be interesting to see if he can successfully acclimate as a carry with his relative newness to the role.
