Revealed: The Ten Teams Competing at OGA Dota PIT S3: EU/CIS

Some information about the upcoming OGA Dota PIT Season 3: EU/CIS was revealed in the Dota 2 client alongside a number of other tournaments. However, there were also a lot of other details missing in that reveal including the number of teams invited, who would compete in this event, and what was the format going to be.

The tournament organizers lifted the veil on those matters earlier today with their official announcement.


Teams Competing to the OGA Dota PIT Season 3: EU/CIS

Overall, a total of 10 teams were invited to compete in this tournament. Almost all of the 10 teams can arguably be considered as the ten best European Dota has to offer at this moment (with the exception of Virtus.Pro who will be replaced by their sister team VP.Prodigy).

6 of these teams will be directly slotted in the OGA Dota PIT Season 3: EU/CIS playoffs.

Invited teams who will be slotted in the playoffs:

  • Team Nigma
  • Virtus.Pro Prodigy
  • Team Secret
  • Team Liquid 
  • OG
  • Alliance

The remaining four teams will compete in a closed qualifier for the two remaining playoff spots.

Teams competing in the closed qualifiers:

  • FlyToMoon
  • Vikin.GG
  • Ninjas in Pyjamas
  • 5 Men


Format of the OGA Dota PIT Season 3: EU/CIS

The whole tournament will take place in a double-elimination bracket with all matches played as best-of-three, except the Grand Finals, which will be played as best-of-five.

The seeding and the fixtures of the OGA Dota PIT Season 3: EU/CIS are expected to be revealed shortly considering the fact that the tournament kicks off in just a few days, on September 20th. The tournament features a whopping $175,000 USD in prize pool.

Team Nigma won the second iteration of the tournament by beating the Alliance 2-1 in the Grand Finals.

In the first season, Team Secret won the tournament in dominant fashion without dropping a single game throughout the Group Stages and the playoffs.
