SumaiL Removed From OG. Ceb Returns!

OG has removed Syed Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan from the lineup to make room for the returning two-time TI winning offlaner Sébastien "Ceb" Debs. The organization just revealed on its social media accounts.

SumaiL Removed From The Team; Replaced By Ceb

OG just announced that their two-time TI winning offlaner Ceb will be coming back to their lineup as their Position 3 player, adding that NA carry SumaiL will be removed from their roster.

Sébastien “Ceb” Debs, pillar of OG esports and best offlane player in the world is coming back to play in our Dota team as our position 3, as Sumail will be removed from our roster.

Additionally the statement reveals that Ceb is making his return because he misses playing competitively with his friends. “I actually missed them a lot. We’ve been through everything together," says Ceb "Every game they play in which I’m not playing felt like a waste of my time. I enjoy playing with them more than anything else.”

He also added that he does not like the fact that OG have become beatable. “I honestly kinda take offense in the simple fact that other teams think that they can beat us”, said Ceb in his statement on OG's website.

Ceb's Statements During His Retirement

“It is time for me to take a step back, and remove myself from the active roster. I will be taking a role within OG in which I will be able to help all teams and players with increasing their performance. Whether it is DotA or CSGO, OG is now a home for great champions to come.  I’ll be able to put my experience to even better use alongside these talents.

However he did mention that he might consider making a comeback later.

“I do not want this to sound like a definitive retirement, even though it could very well end up being it. I love the surprises that comes with life, therefore I’ll always keep every door open.”

OG Parts Ways With SumaiL

OG thanked SumaiL for his time in the team and even acknowledged that he is one of the best Dota 2 players in the world.

OG's New Lineup

This of course, likely means that Malaysian player Yeik "MidOne" Nai Zheng will be playing as the carry in OG. If that is indeed the case, then OG's complete roster will be:

  • Carry: Yeik "MidOne" Nai Zheng
  • Mid: Topias Miikka "Topson" Taavitsainen
  • Offlane: Sébastien "Ceb" Debs
  • Soft Support: Martin "Saksa" Sazdov
  • Hard Support: Johan "N0tail" Sundstein

SumaiL's Journey in OG

After departing from Evil Geniuses following the conclusion of TI9, and a brief stint in Quincy Crew, SumaiL joined OG in January 2020 at TI9 True Sight premiere.

After he joined the team SumaiL has had a largely successful stint with the team, especially considering the fact that he had to play from North America with higher ping than most players. SumaiL qualified for the ESL One Los Angeles 2020 Major after a first place finish in the EU qualifiers. Unfortunately the LAN event was cancelled. Since then he has competed in a number of online tournaments during the ongoing lockdowns.

With RAMZES666 mentioning that Evil Geniuses will be getting a stand-in for the upcoming tournaments just two days before, we can't help but wonder whether the EG player was indicating that SumaiL would be joining the team.
