  • Team Liquid 2-0 Virtus.Pro after the Russians lose two Divine Rapiers in Game 1.
  • With a Broodmother cheese pick in Game 2, Team Liquid easily cruised to victory.
  • Liquid will now face VP.Prodigy in the next round of the playoffs while Virtus.Pro will face HellRaisers.

Well, that was ridiculous, CIS giants Virtus.Pro who recently won the ESL One LA Online League: EU Division has fallen to Team Liquid after a surprise 2-0 loss, featuring a Divine Rapier that dropped multiple times during the course of the game.

Team Liquid has been posting some strong showings in the Group Stages beating teams like Team Secret, Nigma and OG. Now with the recent victory over Virtus.Pro they’ve become one of the favourites to win this tournament.

Team Liquid vs Virtus Pro

Game 1: Although Team Liquid managed to get off to a great start to the game, Virtus.Pro managed to claw their way back in with Igor “ILTW” Filatov’s Terrorblade. The player single-handedly kept VP in the game with his Divine Rapier and was marching towards victory when Grimstroke’s Aghanim’s Scepter ability, ‘Dark Portrait’ absolutely rekt his hero.

However, Zayac managed to grab a hold of the Rapier and attempted to escape with his life. But Team Liquid chased him down and got back the Rapier once again.

ILTW rebought a Divine Rapier and tried to hold on to the base. However, Team Liquid managed to kill him and steal it once again, allowing them to close out the game and secure a 1-0 lead in this series.

Game 2: With momentum on their side, Team Liquid managed to secure a last pick Broodmother for themselves, which VP were virtually unprepared for. They cruised to an easy 34-minute win to secure a 2-0 series victory.

Team Liquid will now face VP.Prodigy in the next series of the playoffs while Virtus.Pro will have to battle HellRaisers for survival.
