While many in the Dota 2 community are happy with Valve's recent changes to the Dota 2 Pro Circuit, surprisingly there are a few individuals expressing their displeasure with the new changes of the DPC.
Team Secret's coach Lee "Heen" Seung Gon and Fnatic's coach Lee "SunBhie" Jeong-jae have been very vocal about the problems with this new DPC system and why Valve needs to pump in more money into the Pro Circuit.
Heen Tweeted:
Edit: He has posted a longer explanation HERE.
To summarize,
- He does not have a problem with the idea of regional leagues.
- Scheduling is an issue.
- Issues with Prize Money, DPC Points, Rewards for finishing on top of the league.
- Thinks Valve doesn't want the Top teams to take a break after TI
To add some context, he retweeted Sunbhie's Tweet right before calling the new DPC system Garbage.
Did Valve kill off Third Party Tournaments?
Team Secret's Manager Cyborgmatt also expressed his displeasure, stating that this might kill of non-DPC tournaments considering the very short (2 Weeks) window between the seasons.
While Valve's announcement was welcomed with euphoria, the concerns that Sunbhie, Heen and Cyborgmatt have expressed are very legitimate. Perhaps Valve will work with players and managers to solve these issues before the new season rolls out. After all, there is at least 6 months to figure out a compromise.
