In November 2019, Dendi made a return to the Pro Dota 2 world with his new team ‘Vietnam Flashbacks’. The team featured a number of talented CIS players but failed to make it through the Dreamleague Season 13 Major and the WePlay! Bukovel Minor Open Qualifiers.

Today, Dendi released a new video on his Youtube channel for the first time in two years to talk about his new team/organisation and revealed a lot of intriguing information.

Here are a few of the most interesting snippets from Dendi’s video.

Setting up a new organisation and the problems he faced

Dendi states that setting up an organisation was not as simple as he thought it would be and that there are a ton of roadblocks on the way. He also admitted that he had to do a bit too much for the new team, and that he needed more human resources.

I can say that everything is in the process, the team, and the organization, are all on the go. A lot of people are helping, a lot of people are involved, there is already a definite team that helps to figure everything out. But as it turned out, this is not as simple as I imagined and thought about it. This all takes a very long time, a lot of different negotiations, and so on and so forth.

That is, this process is long and we are gradually moving in the right direction, but rather slowly. I faced many difficulties, building a team and creating an organization at the same time, I had to control a lot of things and keep track of so many things. This is a very interesting experience for me, it was incredibly interesting for me to do all this but it was very difficult, and the last month was especially difficult because at the same time a lot of things had to be done.

Starting from the fact that we were assembling a team from scratch. I had to be, in a way, a captain on a bootcamp, a manager, and roughly speaking a coach, and a drafter, and so on and so forth. There are a lot of different things in one, and this is very difficult to handle. I now understand that I lack some spare hands, some help.

On why he played under the name of ‘Vietnam Flashbacks’

Because there are a lot of legal issues of all kinds, and, as I said, there are a lot of difficulties and this is a long process.

Why he decided to continue playing in the Mid Lane

Dendi also revealed that he is still flexible about switching his role if his team demands it.

In the interview with Yana Khimchenko, which was released in September, I said that I am ready to transfer to any role, and so it was. I considered a lot of different players, I was negotiating with so many people and looking for options for myself. How to put together a team to the best of my understanding, that would be able to listen to me, that would have some good internal process so that with these guys it would be possible to do work and to move forward.

And accordingly, I looked at the mid laners and I thought about moving to pos3, and to pos5, and to pos4. I considered various options and came to the conclusion that at the moment I need to do just this and this is the right way for me, so that in the future, if I suddenly need to, I can, without problems, be able to transfer to any role that the team would need.

The player also announced that he will be competing in the Open Qualifiers for the ESL One: Los Angeles Major in February 2020.

Dendi's current team features:

  • Alik "V-Tune" Vorobey
  • Danil "Dendi" Ishutin
  • Alexey "nongrata" Vasilyev
  • Rinat "KingR" Abdullin
  • Nicola "LeBronDota" Popovich .
