It looks like Geek Fam will be qualifying for their Second Minor in a row after a brilliant showing on Day 1 of the WePlay! Bukovel Minor 2020: SEA Qualifiers.

The team kicked off the day with a sumptuous 2-0 victory over Indonesian juggernauts BOOM ID. They were simply superb, playing some top-tier Dota and cruised to two victories to book a showdown against Cignal Ultra.

This was Cignal’s shot at redeeming themselves after a typhoon wreaked havoc on their Major hopes. Many expected a close affair between two of the best teams competing for the Minor.

Geek Fam vs Cignal Ultra

Game 1: Cignal Ultra, gifted Geek Fam a Magnus in the laning stage. The hero was nearly broken in the Major Qualifiers and was utilized by a number of teams including Team Secret to guarantee a place in the Major. It was extremely effective in this game as well on the hands of Ryoya. He single-handedly carried his team to victory by utilizing the heroes immense mobility and farm speed to decimate Cignal Ultra and secure a 1-0 lead.

Game 2: The second game was much closer, but Geek Fam always had a minor lead right from the get-go. Cignal bled a lot of kills, however, they kept things relatively close in the net worth department with smart farming patterns and ganks.

However, Geek Fam with the superior late-game draft took control in the later stages and was able to easily force out the win after botched teamfights from Cignal Ultra cost them dearly.

Just one more victory in the Grand Finals is required for Geek Fam to book a place in the WePlay! Bukovel Minor 2020.

Cignal Ultra, on the other hand, will need to battle Neon Esports for a spot in the Grand Finals for a rematch against Geek Fam.
