Dreamleague Season 13 Leipzig Major - Nigma and Secret survive the Open Qualifiers

With quite a few top teams sitting out of the first Major-Minor pair of the DPC 2019-2020 season, the open qualifiers for certain regions have suddenly begun to look super interesting. Unsurprisingly, Europe remains one of the most stacked regions in the world with lots of superstar teams and names playing from the region. The EU Open Qualifiers saw some big names such as former TI winning squad, Nigma, former TI winner turned coach’s squad OG.Seed and last years DPC champions, Secret among others. The release of the new patch just days prior meant that no team was safe especially in the grueling bo1 format. 

New Patch Not a Problem for Captain Puppey

 Puppey is widely regarded as one of the legendary captains of the Dota scene and he was ready with his team, despite the latest patch causing havoc in Dota world. The team strolled into the semi final stage, where they took on Chicken Fighters in  bo3, featuring names like Sonneiko and Milan. It was a fairly one-sided affair as Secret brought out picks like the mid Silencer, Luna+Venge and of course a support Lifestealer and swept aside their opponents. It was also after a long time we saw Matumbaman not playing Viper, despite his team picking it up. 

Nigma Uproot the Seed

On the other side of the bracket, Nigma wiped the floor clean with OG.Seed in what was an even more one-sided series. Miracle’s Morphling was unstoppable in game 1, especially after a solid laning phase. In the second game, Kuroky brought out a support 5 position Puck as OG.Seed were once again caught napping. 

This now means that both Secret and Nigma are in the EU Closed Qualifiers where they will take on names like Alliance and Liquid among others. In other regions, the SEA OQs saw AxH and Neon Esports come out victorious while in China, the newly formed Revive was one of the teams who came through. 

The Regional Qualifiers for the Leipzig Major will kick off tomorrow, ie the 1st of December as many of the teams will be playing for the first time this season. Stay tuned for all the action and updates from the world of Dota 2.
