One of the most hyped series of this season, the grudge match, Team Liquid vs Alliance in an elimination match at the first major of the season is all set to take place on Friday after both teams managed to best their opponents earlier today.
Team Liquid was the first of the two teams to make it to the next round. Their first win against EHOME was a slog-fest and took some excellent co-ordination to pull of the win. Liquid’s execution of teamfights has improved drastically after their run at ESL One Hamburg 2019 and proved to be the decisive factor that secured the win in the first game.
The second game was a far more one-sided affair with Boxi snowballing from the early-game making space for his cores to farm up an overwhelming advantage to secure the series victory.
The final series of the day was the only one that lasted 3 games. Alliance kicked off the series with a quick 31-minute victory as Nikobaby had a dream Faceless Void game with an Ogre Magi-Legion Commander buffing him up, enabling to put up a scintillating 17/0/11 performance to secure the win.
Team Aster struck back in Game 2. Alliance started off this game aggressively, pushing and finding kills all over the map to start things off. But Aster adapted and farmed up for the late-game which broke down the European team over time.
However, in the decisive third game, Alliance outplayed Aster and stomped them to secure a 29-minute win to claim the series.
This sets up a mouth-watering clash between Team Liquid and Alliance in the next round of the lower brackets. The loser of this match will be eliminated from the tournament. This match will be exceptionally hype because of the history between the current Team Liquid roster and The Alliance organisation.
