Evil Geniuses crush Team Adroit on their debut at The MDL Chengdu Major

Wow, that was one-sided. North American favourites Evil Geniuses opened up their counter at the MDL Chengdu Major with a scintillating 2-0 victory over Filipino debutants Adroit. The NA outfit did not put a foot wrong in the series and looked in control throughout.

The Filipino team simply couldn’t match up to Evil Geniuses’ experience and drafting prowess and are now forced into a Loser’s match. They need to win two games in a row to make it to the Upper Brackets of the playoffs.

Evil Geniuses vs Team Adroit

Game 1: Team Adroit chose to stick with their tried and tested Bloodseeker-Slark strategy against Evil Geniuses. This proved to be a mistake, as Evil Geniuses simply chose to pickup a better late-game lineup and avoided fighting the Filipinos and delayed the game whilst being more efficient on the map. As a result, they secured an overwhelming advantage when the late-game rolled in and secured the win.

Game 2: The second game was just a pure outdraft by EG. They had the better early-game lineup with absolutely no counter for Abed’s Outworld Devourer. However, Team Adroit put up quite a tough fight, clawing their way back into the game with a few good fights. However, they simply didn’t slow down Abed, which proved to be their undoing in the late-game. Adroit simply couldn’t hold their own against his Sanity’s Eciplses. He carried EG to a 2-0 victory.

EG will now face the winner of the Team Liquid vs Team Aster matchup in the winner’s match while Adroit will have to battle the loser of that game.
