The yb20.in Asia Communication League kicked off earlier today and saw several teams from the Chinese and the SEA scene make their debut with their new rosters. Amongst the many, the most popular teams to make their debut at this event were Newbee, Team Serenity and Geek Fam.
Geek Fam vs IG.Vitality
Geek Fam debuted their new roster against IG.Vitality. Many expected the SEA team to dominate the Chinese team, unfortunately, that wasn’t the case today.
Game 1 saw IG.Vitality grab a win on the back of 12/0/14 Faceless Void performance from Liu "bobo" Ningbo. Although Geek Fam held the net worth advantage for the majority of the game, they were unable to close out the game. The Chinese team took full advantage of this and capitalised on this shortcoming to secure a 1-0 lead.
Geek Fam managed to even out the series in Game 2 with impressive performances from Eric "Ryoya" Dong and Marc Polo Luis "Raven" Fausto on their Outworld Devourer and Gyrocopter respectively.
Game 3, however, was a complete stomp in the favour of IG.Vitality. The Chinese team managed to close out the game in just 25 minutes with a kill-score of 29-9, simply overwhelming Geek Fam to secure the series victory.
Geek Fam vs Team Adroit
Geek Fam would then take on Filipino team Team Adroit in their second series of the day.
Geek Fam came into this matchup as the stronger SEA team, atleast on paper. They lived up to the hype in Game 1 with a scintillating 32 minute humbling of Team Adroit. All of their players clicked, and their movements were crisp and precise. They looked like they were ready to hand out a 2-0 loss to Adroit.
However, that ended up not being the case. With Game-winning performances from Jun "Bok" Kanehara in Game 2 and Mc Nicholson "Mac" Villanueva in Game 3, Team Adroit struck back with a vengeance to clutch the series victory and send Geek Fam to the bottom of the table in the Group Stages.
Here’s how the tables stand at the end of Day 1 of the tournament.

It is going to take a drastic recovery for Geek Fam to claw their way to the Upper Bracket berth after suffering two back-to-back losses in the opening night of this tournament.
On the other hand, Team Adroit has made a great recovery at this event, coming back from a shocking 2-1 loss to Ling er and securing two consecutive victories over Geek Fam and Miracle catapulting them to the top of the table. Perhaps this will be the push they need to build momentum for the SEA Games 2019.
