YEKINDAR Talks About Possibility of Joining Team Liquid's CS:GO Team
The talented entry fragger has surely turned things around for Team Liquid.
It is no surprise that the playoffs bracket of the ongoing IEM Cologne 2022 is baffling as multiple unexpected teams have made it through to the final stage of the tournament.
Team Liquid has managed to reach the quarterfinals of the tournament, already exceeding all expectations, especially after dropping down to the lower bracket of 'Group-B' in its opening match.
The fight put up by Liquid could be a result of the stand-in buff it has received in the form of Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis, who seems to be enjoying his time on the North American lineup while also sharing some much-needed tips and advice.
Talking about his future in CS:GO, specifically with Liquid, YEKINDAR in a recent interview with Dust2.US said that if it was a possibility he would "maybe stick with the team."
YEKINDAR talks about his future in CS:GO, possibility of joining Team Liquid
The stand-in for Team Liquid, YEKINDAR, still does not have a permanent home since being benched by Virtus.Pro (Outsiders) in May earlier this year, right after the culmination of the PGL Antwerp Major 2022.
After being away from the competitive circuit for more than a month, the 22-year-old got an opportunity to play with Liquid at the ongoing IEM Cologne 2022, as the North American (NA) organization was cut down to a four-man roster following the departure of Richard "shox" Papillon.
Since joining the team, YEKINDAR seems to have drastically strengthened the mental aspect of Liquid's approach towards the game, and it is reflecting quite positively.
Talking about his future beyond the tournament, YEKINDAR revealed that he was unsure of what was going to happen next. Explaining his current situation, the entry fragger said that, "It [was] mostly I just stand-in for this tournament (IEM Cologne 2022), I just knew that they were changing shox, so they obviously needed the stand-in, and it [just so] happened that I had got an agreement with VP that I could."
He spoke further about whether joining Liquid was on his cards after getting benched. YEKINDAR, speaking honestly, stated that it was not something that was on his radar at the start, however now that the team has qualified for the playoffs alongside him, "maybe if it's possible I'm gonna maybe stick with the team."
It remains to be seen what transpires between YEKINDAR and Liquid after the tournament. For now, the roster is focussed on making it all the way to the grand finals and lift the trophy in front of the live audience at the historic LANXESS Arena.
