YEKINDAR will play as a stand-in for Team Liquid and complete its CS:GO roster for the upcoming IEM Cologne 2022.
YEKINDAR will be returning to the competitive front after being benched by Virtus.pro a month ago.
The aggressive entry fragger takes the vacant spot left by shox

One of the finest entry fraggers in CS:GO, Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis, is all set to compete once again following a brief hiatus. The 22-year-old was benched by VIrtus.pro due to reportedly facing a lot of pressure since he was a Latvian citizen playing for a Russian organization.

After being sidelined from the competitive front for more than a month, YEKINDAR will finally be seen in action at the upcoming IEM Cologne 2022 alongside Team Liquid. The aggressive entry fragger will stand-in for the North American organization in place of the recently benched Richard "shox" Papillon.

With this, Liquid has received a serious boost in its overall firepower and is all set to compete with a revamped CS:GO roster which consists of a new player and a coach.

YEKINDAR to stand-in for Team Liquid at IEM Cologne 2022

The Latvian superstar, YEKINDAR, is on his way to compete in CS:GO once again after a break of more than one month sitting on VP's bench. Team Liquid has announced him as a stand-in for the side at IEM Cologne 2022 and he will be taking the place of shox on the lineup.

Due to the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict multiple sanctions had been imposed against VP by various tournament organizers. This destabilized the roster and affected its performance, forcing VP to make certain changes that were beneficial for both the players and the organization.

YEKINDAR who has held an overall HLTV rating of 1.14 this season, along with an astounding impact rating of 1.28, is a blessing for Liquid whose best performance so far has been a 5th-8th finish at the ESL Pro League Season 15.

His arrival could change things for the North American side, giving them a substantial boost in firepower and a good chance of winning more opening duels considering YEKINDAR's individual prowess with a rifle, he was the eighth best CS:GO player of 2021 afterall.

This single tournament loan which also seems to be a tryout, though nothing of sorts has been officially mentioned by any of the parties involved, was made possible due to VP having recently agreed on certain terms related to YEKINDAR's exit from the team.

Statement from YEKINDAR

It remains to be seen how this revamped Team Liquid performs at IEM Cologne 2022. Here is the new complete lineup,

  • Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski

  • Nick "nitr0" Cannella [IGL]

  • Josh "oSee" Ohm

  • Keith "NAF" Markovic

  • Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis [Stand-In]

  • Damian "daps" Steele [Coach]
