Three out of the four Asia-Pacific (APAC) qualifiers have concluded for the PGL Major Antwerp 2022: APAC RMR (Regional Major Ranking). The three CS:GO teams that have qualified for this tournament are TYLOO through the Chinese Qualifier, Lynn Vision Gaming through the Middle East Qualifier, and Checkmate through the Asian Qualifier.

Now one last team will be joining the trio, making its way through the Oceanic Qualifier which is scheduled to take place from 5th to 6th March. Following its conclusion, all the teams for the APAC RMR will be secured but only two of them will be moving forward to the PGL Major Antwerp 2022, where they will be attaining a ‘New Contenders Status’.

PGL Major Antwerp 2022: APAC RMR - Three teams secure slots for the CS:GO Major qualifier

The qualifiers for various regions are currently taking place in full swing for the upcoming CS:GO Major. Regions like Europe and America have multiple open qualifiers due to heavy competition and abundance of top-tier CS:GO talent, but the APAC region despite being vast in size has only been awarded a single qualifier for every sub-region.

The four qualifiers under the PGL Major Antwerp 2022: Asia-Pacific RMR are as follows,

  • Chinese Qualifier - Won by TYLOO

  • Middle East Qualifier - Won by Lynn Vision Gaming

  • Asia Qualifier - Won by Checkmate

  • Oceanic Qualifier - TBD

All three qualifiers that are now complete took place from 26th to 27th February, while the last remaining qualifier is scheduled to take place over the course of the coming weekend.

TYLOO

Stepping out with its new lineup, Hansel “BnTeT“ Ferdinand returned to the driver's seat after more than two years as TYLOO showcased sublime form by going undefeated through the qualifier. The team won six maps in a row to qualify for the APAC RMR and could potentially also be the Asian representatives at the PGL Major Antwerp 2022 if the lineup continues its current form.

Both ZhengHao “DANK1NG“ Lv and YuanZhang “Attacker“ Sheng were in top shape, putting up big numbers for the side and providing the necessary firepower that helped TYLOO destroy all the teams that played against them.

Lynn Vision Gaming

The Middle East qualifier witnessed another Chinese organization, Lynn Vision Gaming, triumph over the rest of the teams competing in the event. Luckily for Lynn, this region had a double elimination qualifier because it had dropped a map to Emirati organization Divine Vendetta in the upper bracket semifinals.

However, Lynn made full use of its second chance by successfully making it to the grand final through the lower bracket where it faced NASR Esports. It was not easy for Lynn, but the team came back from a ‘0-1’ deficit and survived an overtime scare to take a ‘2-1’ lead

Checkmate

The Mongolian powerhouse Checkmate won six consecutive maps to qualify ahead to the APAC RMR. It defeated teams like D13 Esports, Aravt, Wings Up Gaming, and Rare Atom to qualify ahead. Checkmate could be a potential threat to other teams if they continue ahead in this form, but the team is notorious for being quite inconsistent.

Checkmate qualifies through the Asian Qualifier

The PGL Major Antwerp 2022: Asia-Pacific RMR will be taking place in Bucharest as a LAN event, giving all teams a fair shot at qualifying for the Major. It will take place at the PGL Studio from 15th to 16th April, with two teams taking the Contender slot at the main event.
