Team Liquid has signed daps as its new CS:GO coach ahead of IEM Cologne 2022.
This signing comes following the departure of both shox and adreN, due to the slew of poor results by Team Liquid.
Liquid is one player short of completing its CS:GO roster for the second half of the 2022 competitive season.

Team Liquid is making big changes ahead of IEM Cologne 2022. Just a day after announcing the departure of Eric "adreN" Hoag and Richard "shox" Papillon, the North American organization has gone ahead and signed Damian "daps" Steele as its new CS:GO coach.

The Counter-Strike veteran will return to the competitive circuit after more than two months, following a brief stint with Orgless, a team founded by him earlier this year, which was unable to make its way up the competitive ladder and ended up disbanding in early April.

The 28-year-old has previously coached multiple North American CS:GO teams like NRG Esports and Evil Geniuses. This will be his second stint with Team Liquid, having previously played with them for a little over four months in 2015.

Daps returns to competitive CS:GO after more than two months as the new Liquid coach

Team Liquid has decided to undergo some changes ahead of the IEM Cologne 2022 which is scheduled to take place from 5th to 17th July. They have benched the veteran French rifler shox along with their longstanding coach adreN, replacing him with daps who marks his return to the competitive front after an absence of more than two months.

The competitive circuit has not been kind to Liquid so far. Liquid's best results were a 5th-8th finish at the ESL Pro League Season 15. With half the season behind us, the North American organization is making some necessary changes to pick up the slack and deliver.

Daps seems to be the solution, according to Liquid, when it comes to getting the team in order from a coaching point of view. He has already proved his worth by taking NRG to the top, followed by brief stints with Cloud9, Gen.G Esports (as player), and Evil Geniuses.

He did move away from CS:GO, calling it quits and trying his hand in Valorant with NRG as a player, but he eventually returned after eight months after having played multiple third-party tournaments along with two stages of the VCT 2021: North America.

Daps statement after joining Team Liquid

Team Liquid is now just one player away from completing its CS:GO roster. Meanwhile the current team is as follows,

  • Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski

  • Josh "oSee" Ohm

  • Nick "nitr0" Cannella [IGL]

  • Keith "NAF" Markovic

  • Damian "daps" Steele [Coach]
