Skyesports Masters 2024 Main Event LAN canceled detailed
Skyesports released a statement on its official X handle and revealed that the Skyesports Masters 2024 Main Event LAN has been canceled and wrote, “After careful consideration and exploring all possible alternatives, we have reached the extremely tough decision to cancel the LAN component of the Skyesports Masters 2024 Main Event.
With the Indian General Elections set to begin in April, it has proved extremely challenging to obtain the necessary approvals for hosting a large-scale on-ground event. Thus, while we were really looking forward to welcoming all teams to Mumbai, India for a grand show, we regretfully announce the transition of the main event to an online format."
"Although the transition to an online event presents its challenges, the Skyesports Masters Main Event will continue as planned, from 8th to 14th April, as 8 teams battle it out in the $350,000 USD tournament. Our talented production team remains dedicated to delivering a top-notch and seamless live show for fans around the world."
Talking about the Indian teams who will face ping issues in the online format, Skyesports said, "For our Indian fans, do not worry, as we will be facilitating the travel and setup of the champion of the Indian Qualifier to Serbia to compete in the main event, ensuring an equitable and fair playing field for the team.
While we understand the disappointment this decision may bring, it was a necessary step to ensure that we are able to bring the anticipated Counter-Strike 2 esports action live from the Skyesports Masters.”
Team Liquid, one of the prominent teams in the Counter Strike title also released a statement and revealed that it pulled out from the Skyesports Master 2024 event due to constant change in scheduling. The post shared by Team Liquid said, “Given the constantly changing Counter-Strike schedule, we have made the difficult decision to withdraw our participation from the Sky Esports Masters 2024. We will have more details outlining our team’s tournament participation coming soon.”
It will be interesting to see which team will be given a nod ahead as Team Liquid has now withdrawn from the tournament. The Skyesports Masters 2024 Playoffs will be played in the double elimination bracket format with the teams playing Best of 3 (Bo3) matches in the playoffs and Best of 5 (Bo5) matches in the Grand Finals.
