One of the best CS:GO teams from Asia, TYLOO, has failed to qualify for the ESL Pro League (EPL) Conference Season 16 after facing a harsh '3-1' defeat in the grand final against Rare Atom, formerly known as ViCi Gaming.
The Chinese esports organization which is deemed as one of the finest CS:GO teams from Asia has failed to move ahead through the Asia-Pacific (APAC) qualifiers for the EPL Conference Season 16.
Despite putting on a strong performance for the majority of ESL Challenger League Season 40: Asia-Pacific, Rare Atom was able to best them not once but twice, in the upper bracket final followed by the grand final with '2-1' and '3-1' scoreline respectively.
Rare Atom defeats TYLOO to represent Asia at ESL Pro League Conference Season 16
Chinese esports organization ViCi Gaming had rebranded to Rare Atom earlier this year in January and did not undergo massive roster changes apart from Weijie "zhokiNg" Zhong being acquired by YK Gaming.
The lineup change did not affect Rare Atom too much, as they narrowly missed out on an opportunity to qualify for the APAC RMR (Regional Major Rankings) following a '0-2' loss in the finals against Checkmate.
However, Rare Atom turned things around quickly by registering a win at the very next event, Funspark ULTI Challenge 2022. Here they defeated TYLOO with a '2-0' scoreline, reviving the great rivalry they had against them while competing under the ViCi Gaming brand.
Since then, TYLOO has managed to beat Rare Atom in the finals of Perfect World Arena Premier League Season 1, followed by Rare Atom once again beating them in the finals of ESL Challenger League Season 40: APAC to qualify for the EPL Conference Season 16.
This is a huge opportunity for Rare Atom to represent Asia at an international stage, as they have a chance of qualifying for the ESL Pro League Season 16 by attaining a top-six finish at the Season 16 Conference.
TYLOO has already managed to qualify for the APAC RMR and are just two wins away from representing Asia and China at the PGL Major Antwerp 2022. While the individual successes of both these teams are commendable, it is the revival of the rivalry between them that has the Asian CS:GO community excited.
