PGL Antwerp Major 2022 Creates Viewership Record: Best Start in Major History
Opening day viewership record, what a start to the Antwerp Major!
The PGL Antwerp Major 2022 has kicked off brilliantly featuring one of the most stacked 'Challengers Stage' for a CS:GO Major. The high octane action of the opening day attracted a lot of eyeballs as a peak of 704,221 concurrent viewers was witnessed during the match between G2 Esports and Team Spirit, making it the best start in the history of CS:GO Majors.
The opening day viewership record speaks volumes about the quality of teams competing in this tournament and how eager the community is to witness some top-notch gameplay.
Previously, no other CS:GO Major had registered a peak concurrent viewership of more than 700,000 viewers. The Antwerp Major may create more such viewership records as it progresses.
PGL Antwerp Major 2022 creates opening day viewership record: Registers peak of 704,221 concurrent viewers
A lot of viewership records were broken last year as the PGL Stockholm Major 2021 took place after more than two years. One of these remarkable viewership records was of the Stockholm Major being one of the most-watched CS:GO tournaments in the history of the game. It really set the bar very high for future tournaments of similar stature to aspire and aim for.
Well, just six months later it seems that all the viewership records might be headed towards a revision as the PGL Antwerp Major 2022 registered a record-breaking opening day.
With a peak of more than 700,000 concurrent viewers and an average of 490,006 viewers across all 16 matches, the Antwerp Major has already managed to deliver the best opening ever for a CS:GO Major till date.
In comparison, the PGL Stockholm Major 2021 had witnessed a peak of 668,043 concurrent viewers with an average of 470,514 viewers on its first day of the tournament. FaZe Clan vs ENCE was the most viewed match of that day.
The Antwerp Major has shown a clear increment in those viewership numbers, a rough 5.41% increment when it comes to the peak concurrent viewership and a 4.14% increment in average viewership.
The unofficial broadcasts also contributed significantly with Argentinian streamer Gancho bringing in an average of 20,000 viewers by actively covering the matches of 9z Team. Apart from him, the other amazing community casters were Piotra "izak" Skowyrskiego and Ernest Xhocii.
This is a good start by PGL and hopefully, it will be able to continue building upon this significant advantage to break further viewership records as the tournament progresses.
