NAVI Became the Most Popular CS:GO Team of PGL Antwerp Major 2022
The defending champions were still the favorites!
The grand final of the PGL Antwerp Major 2022 was spectacular as FaZe Clan pushed Natus Vincere (NAVI) to the limits, making them fight hard across both the games which resulted in an exciting series.
NAVI did manage to take the first game into overtime before faltering, but could not muster a comeback on the second map, leading to a '2-0' defeat for the defending champions.
Despite the loss, NAVI turned out to be the most popular CS:GO team at the Antwerp Major attracting more than 828,000 viewers on average, according to Esports Charts. They put on quite the show up until the final game of the tournament and clearly lived up to what was expected from them, continuing to be a strong contender going forward unless no changes disturb the current balance of the team.
PGL Antwerp Major 2022: NAVI became the most popular CS:GO team at the tournament
The Antwerp Major might not have been able to beat the viewership record set by the PGL Stockholm Major 2021, but it definitely did well for itself by attaining a peak concurrent viewership of more than two million, while also becoming the largest indoor esports tournament of all time according to reports.
Speaking about the tournament itself, NAVI seemed to have attracted the most number of viewers as it became the most popular CS:GO team of Antwerp Major with 828,000 viewers watching their match on average.
NAVI was closely followed by FaZe Clan who managed to attract 707,000 average viewers. No wonder, the grand final clash between the two teams became the second most-watched CS:GO match of all time, right behind the faceoff between G2 and NAVI during the Stockholm Major.
With the Antwerp Major now behind us and NAVI unable to fly out to Texas for the IEM Dallas 2022 due to visa issues, the future for the Ukrainian organization is unclear at this point in time.
Earlier in March, Yevhen Zolotarov - CEO of NAVI, had said that "We (NAVI) are not going to work with people who live in Russia and who pay taxes to the Russian Federation."
This was followed by all the Russian players being removed from the NAVI Junior and NAVI Youth CS:GO rosters, while the main roster was not disturbed due to the upcoming Antwerp Major. However, there is a chance that the team might now undergo a few changes ahead of its next appearance at a tournament.
