The announcement was made yesterday to comply with the sanctions announced by ESL against all esports organizations that have ties to the Russian government.

Russian esports organization Gambit Esports came forward with a public statement yesterday on 11th March stating that it allowing its CS:GO roster to compete in the ongoing ESL Pro League Season 15 under a neutral name.

This decision comes following the sanctions imposed by ESL against all esports organizations that have apparent links to the Russian government, banning them from the ESL Pro League Season 15.

Gambit Esports and Virtus.pro were the two teams affected by this decision, however, ESL did allow the players to compete in the tournament under a neutral name, without representing their organization and any of its sponsors on the clothing.

The third week of ESL Pro League Season 15 which is scheduled to take place from 23rd to 27th March will witness Gambit Esports players compete under a different name, complying with the guidelines imposed by ESL due to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

An official statement posted by the organization expressed that "As an organization, we won't hinder the possibility - the players, coaches, and managers have made an incredible effort to earn the right to participate in the tournament".

Earlier, Virtus.pro had announced that their CS:GO roster would also be competing at the tournament as 'Outsiders', following a statement that did not go down well with majority of the community members.

Every player and coach associated with the two teams has removed all branding and links associated with their respective organizations from all their social media accounts.

The name under which Gambit's CS:GO lineup will be competing in the ESL Pro League Season 15 has not been revealed so far. However, they are set to go up against the North American team Party Astronauts in their opening match, scheduled to take place on 23rd March at 17:00 IST.
