G2 m0NESY Reveals That He Might Not Compete at IEM Dallas 2022

G2 Esports kicked off the 2022 competitive season in style with the addition of a young dedicated AWPer, Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov. However, it all came crashing down in the recently concluded 'Group-A' of the ESL Pro League Season 15, where G2 failed to make its way through to the playoffs after placing second last on the points table.

One of the main reasons behind this can be attributed to the fact that G2 was playing without their IGL (in-game leader) Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen, as he tested positive for COVID-19 right before the tournament, due to which François "AMANEK" Delaunay had to step up for the side.

The European lineup might face another such situation for the upcoming IEM Dallas 2022 as m0NESY might not be able to attend the tournament which is scheduled to take place from 31^st May to 5^th June.

G2 Esports might have to compete at IEM Dallas 2022 with a stand-in as m0NESY faces travel issues

Though IEM Dallas 2022 is still a long way away, m0NESY has come forward to reveal via a short Telegram video (Telesco) that he might probably not be able to compete at the tournament "because it's unrealistic to get there".

The 16-year-old Russian player further revealed that his visa issues are currently being resolved and that everything is okay. G2 Esports seems to be doing everything possible to ensure that the talented AWPer is able to travel along with the rest of the lineup, especially to Bucharest, Romania and Antwerp, Belgium for the upcoming European RMR and PGL Major Antwerp 2022 respectively.

"I think everything will be fine. The only thing is that I probably won't play at IEM Dallas this year, because it's unrealistic to get there, I think. But we'll see, maybe there's some hope," said m0NESY, who might be facing trouble obtaining visas, for competing in various tournaments taking place on LAN, due to the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

As far as the sanctions imposed by top CS:GO tournament organizers like ESL and BLAST are considered, m0NESY will not be facing any trouble from them as he is part of a Spanish esports organization and most of the bans are against teams that have a link to the Russian government.

G2 Esports has shown that they are a strong CS:GO team when playing with its permanent roster. However, with a stand-in, things are not that solid as the overall gameplay of the team gets affected negatively. There is a chance G2 might field AMANEK as a substitute player or bring back Kenny "kennyS" Schrub for a single tournament, as they continue playing with a dedicated AWPer.

Another thing to take into consideration is that ESL has not officially announced any teams for the tournament so far. With the Antwerp Major still left to be played out from 9^th to 22^nd May, the situation might pan out differently following the tournament.
